epup is built with a local-first design. Your reading documents, book progress, highlights and companion pet data remain on your device by default. We do not sell your personal data to third parties or advertising brokers.
If you link an online account, we process your email address, user ID, authentication session tokens and cloud sync metadata via Supabase. If you participate in social features, we process your chosen username, avatar configuration, friend code, club membership, cooperative raid progress and public leaderboard statistics.
Imported EPUB and PDF documents are parsed locally on your device to extract chapters, render pages and generate cover previews. Reading notes, highlights, bookmarks, focus timer session logs and reading metrics are stored locally and synced as lightweight progress metadata when cloud sync is enabled. epup does not upload your raw book files to epup servers.
If you enable Google Drive backups, your imported book files and cover images are uploaded directly to the private application data folder in your personal Google Drive account. epup only accesses its designated application folder and cannot view other files in your Google Drive.
Depending on the features you use, epup may request specific permissions: notifications for reading reminders and streak notices, camera access strictly for on-device QR friend code scanning, photo library access to choose a profile avatar and a foreground service on Android to ensure accurate focus timer synchronization during active reading sessions.
We rely on trusted third-party providers to operate application functionality: Supabase for authentication and database management, Expo for push notification delivery, Google Drive for optional personal book file backups and Gutendex or dictionary endpoints when you search for public domain titles or word definitions.
Local data remains on your device until you reset app data or uninstall the application. Cloud data is retained while your account remains active. You can permanently delete your cloud account and all associated remote records at any time in Settings or through our website account deletion portal.
epup is designed for general audiences and readers of all ages (rated 4+). Core reading and companion features operate entirely offline without requiring registration or collecting personal information. For users under the age of 13 (or the applicable digital consent age in your region), online account creation, cloud backup and social features should only be used with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal data from unsupervised children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe an unsupervised child has provided personal information, please contact us for prompt removal.
You have the right to access, export, modify or delete your data. You can download a complete JSON export of your local save data at any time from the app settings, manage device permissions in system settings and request full cloud data erasure.
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Significant changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date and communicating notices through the app when appropriate.

epup is rated 4+ and is suitable for readers of all ages. You may use the offline e-reader and companion features without age restriction. If you are under the legal age of digital consent (such as 13 in the United States or 16 in parts of the European Union), you must have permission and supervision from a parent or legal guardian to create an online account, link cloud services or participate in social features. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities under your account.
epup provides an e-reader and companion experience supporting EPUB and PDF formats. Core reading data, books, highlights, reading history, session logs and pet progress are stored locally on your device by default.
Linking an account syncs reading metadata, companion progress, club participation and leaderboard rankings through our secure Supabase database. epup provides optional backup of your imported EPUB and PDF files to your personal Google Drive storage. In conflict scenarios, local or remote data overwrite rules apply as indicated in the application. You can export a JSON save file at any time for offline safekeeping.
You retain ownership of the EPUB and PDF documents you import into epup. You are solely responsible for ensuring you possess the legal rights to use, view and store any content you import. epup trademarks, illustrations, companion designs, furniture sprites, mechanics and source code are the intellectual property of epup and its creator.
You agree not to misuse the service, interfere with server infrastructure, reverse engineer application components or engage in fraudulent leaderboard manipulation. Usernames, club titles and profile details must remain free of harassment, hate speech, explicit content and spam.
Social features allow player connections through friend codes, QR code scanning, clubs, cooperative raids and public leaderboards. When participating in leaderboards, your username, avatar, level, reading metrics and active companion pet are visible to other players. You may block or report players and clubs in-app. We reserve the right to review reports and restrict or terminate accounts that violate our standards.
epup features virtual companions, evolutions, furniture, skins, ink, tickets, doubloons, cookware and event rewards earned through reading milestones, daily rewards, quests and exchange shops. These virtual items are provided solely for entertainment, hold zero monetary value, cannot be redeemed for real-world currency and are non-transferable outside epup.
epup is currently free to use with no mandatory subscriptions or real-money purchases. If paid features or optional subscriptions are introduced in future releases, full pricing and terms will be clearly displayed before any transaction.
epup utilizes trusted third-party providers including Supabase (authentication and database), Expo (push notifications), Google Drive (optional personal book backups) and Gutendex (public domain catalog discovery). Your use of these services is subject to their applicable terms and policies.
You can delete your cloud account at any time in Settings. Account deletion immediately purges your cloud account data, social relationships, club memberships and sync metadata. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
